Pork BBQ Ribs

Pork BBQ Ribs

Did you know you can make great fall-off-the-bone Pork BBQ Ribs using your oven for most of the cooking? Say what?!? This is my absolute favorite way to make BBQ ribs. It is simple, easy, and most of all delicious!

Jon once had an old girlfriend tell him he could be a hand model…I’ll have to say she might have been right. He did an excellent job showing how to rub the seasoning on the rack of ribs (you‘ll get to see in the photos). Look at those beauties and the ribs too! 😉

He’s going to hate me for this…

Anyway, the oven does most of the work for cooking the ribs through. During the last part, the ribs do get grilled, but only for a short time.  The result are fall-off-the-bone ribs with a thick coat of BBQ sauce.

Ingredients:
2-2 and ½ lbs Pork Loin Back Ribs
Rib Rub (click on the link for the recipe)
1 cup BBQ sauce
Extra BBQ sauce for serving.

Prepare the rib rub and set aside.

Remove the silver skin from the back of the rack of ribs. The silver skin is a very thin, shear piece that lines the back of the ribs. It should pull off mostly in one piece.

Next, rub the ribs with all of the rib rub. Be sure to rub it onto both sides.

Place the ribs in a roasting pan lined with foil in the bottom. (You’ll want the foil in the bottom so the sugars don’t make a sticky mess…I’ve learned the hard way…)

Cover the roasting pan with foil and place the roasting pan into the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the roasting pan in the oven still covered with foil. Roast for about 2 hours.

Remove the roasting pan from the oven carefully (use your oven mitts, it will be hot). There will be steam in the roasting pan, be extremely careful when taking the foil off of the pan. DO NOT OPEN THE FOIL TOWARDS YOU! BE SURE TO KEEP YOUR FACE, HANDS, ARMS, ANY OTHER BODY PARTS, AND OTHER PEOPLE OUT OF THE WAY OF THE STEAM! USE YOUR OVEN MITTS ALSO, SO YOU WON”T GET BURNT! REMOVE THE FOIL GRADUALLY, A LITTLE BIT AT A TIME.

Notice how the meat has pulled back from the rib bones after cooking. That’s exactly what you want!

Allow the ribs to rest just about 5-10 minutes. Preheat the grill to about 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the ribs on the grill on indirect heat.

Baste the ribs with BBQ sauce using a sauce mop or brush. Cook for 5-10 minutes, turn the ribs over using tongs, and baste the other side. Cook another 5-minutes.

Before serving, cut the ribs in between the bones. Most of our meat was falling off of the bones We got about 4 servings from one rack. Serve with extra BBQ sauce if desired. These Pork BBQ Ribs are great with Mac and Cheese!
