There used to be a trail mix that a national brand peanut company used to make. It was my FAVORITE trail mix. One day, they discontinued it, and POOF, it was gone. It was so sad.
I’ve looked for other trail mixes to see if any of them come close to the flavors of the Caribbean style trail mix, and I haven’t found anything nearly as good.
I’m not sure where I got the idea, but I decided to try to make my own version of the crunchy Caribbean mix. My mix is perfect! It is full of peanuts, cashews, dried pineapple, banana chips, and raisins! So good!!! It’s taking me right back to childhood!
The original mix had sesame sticks, you can add those if you like, but I don’t care for them. I added raisins for a little extra pop of sweetness.
Ingredients:
1 cup peanuts
½ cup cashews
½ cup dried pineapple pieces
½ cup banana chips, roughly chopped
1/3 cup raisins
Toss all ingredients together in a bowl.
If serving for a party or gathering, place in a serving bowl. If you’re munching on the mix all week, put in an airtight container.
- 1 cup peanuts
- ½ cup cashews
- ½ cup dried pineapple pieces
- ½ cup banana chips, roughly chopped
- ⅓ cup raisins
- Toss all ingredients together in a bowl. If serving for a party or gathering, place in a serving bowl. If you’re munching on the mix all week, put in an airtight container.
Sounds like it would be really close. You’re only missing my favorite ingredient. The sesame sticks.
